KANE provided geotechnical engineering services for the design of a comprehensive rockfall protection system over a Hydroelectric Facility in Kern County, California . The project involved evaluation of rockfall hazards threatening the intake structure and operational personnel, development of engineered mitigation alternatives, and preparation of construction-ready calculations, drawings, and specifications for the protection system.
Following completion of the mitigation design, KANE provided construction engineering services during installation of the rockfall protection systems. Services included contractor support, construction oversight, quality assurance, engineering modifications, and final acceptance to verify that the installed systems conformed to the engineered design.
The project resulted in a complete engineered rockfall mitigation design package consisting of hazard evaluation, engineering calculations, construction drawings, and technical specifications for implementation of the protection system.
