Waldo Fire Debris Flow Mitigation

Waldo Fire Debris Flow Mitigation

Following the 2012 Waldo Canyon Fire, KANE was retained to evaluate debris flow hazards threatening surrounding facilities located at the mouth of Queen’s Canyon. Severe wildfire impacts within the watershed increased the risk of runoff, sediment transport, and potentially catastrophic debris flow events.

The project focused on assessing hazards, identifying alternative mitigation, and developing recommendations for protecting people, property, and critical infrastructure, as well as providing complete construction drawings and specifications for implementation of the rockfall mitigation system.
